Moisture-resistant shades for a bathroom and kitchen renovation
Nine shades for two bathrooms, a kitchen and a laundry room — specified by the homeowners’ kitchen & bath designer from free samples.
Challenge
The old fabric shades in the primary bath had mildew spots along the hem within two years. The kitchen window sits behind a deep counter over the sink, and the designer wanted one consistent look across four rooms.
Solution
The designer ordered samples and tested them in the bathroom for a week. We recommended Marin light-filtering in the guest bath and laundry, blackout in the primary bath (which faces the neighbors), and a rechargeable motor for the window over the sink. All shades were inside-mounted with a reverse roll so the tube stays hidden.
Result
The homeowners wipe the bathroom shades down during their regular cleaning. The designer has since used the same specification on two more kitchen and bath projects.
